This second version of the Rock pattern, Rock II, is printed in blue underglaze on an 8.66 inch octagonally shaped bone china plate. It is dated 1800-1810. This is the second of two Rock patterns
developed by Spode (Rock I is also included in this exhibit). This
central pattern varies considerably from the first version as does the
border pattern. An
early pattern, it is c. 1800-1810. Robert Copeland identifies the outer border pattern as Lattice Panels, a pattern derived from a Chinese original pattern. The
