An earthenware covered root dish printed in blue underglaze in the Willow 1 pattern.  It consists of a central oval-shaped, machine turned container with cover  intended for butter or sauces.  It is fixed centrally to an extended upright sided stand with tapered cut off ends. While some have described this object as an asparagus dish, it is more likely that the stand was made to hold root vegetables.
