Description:

This rare earthenware extinguisher tray, or candle snuffer, was printed in blue underglaze with one of the seven vignettes from the Musicians pattern:  Villagers linking hands around a pole bearing six spheres which may be lanterns.   These were produced as single or double trays and would have included the extinguishers (missing from this example).   Click on the image below for a close up view of the pattern.
