Description:

Spode's popular Tumbledown Dick pattern is exhibited here on a large earthenware ewer with gadrooned edge belonging to a wash set.  The wash basin is also included in this exhibit.  The shape is Spode's Imperial body.  The pattern is printed in blue and colored-in and then ackeyed and reprinted with a gray marble sheet pattern underglaze.  Some gild decoration has been added.  The mark on the companion wash basin is 33a Grey.  Shown here is the companion wash basin.
