Shown on a small earthenware tea plate. This unusual, enigmatic pattern is printed underglaze in black. Note that the trees appear to be growing out of the sides of the boat. Two musicians are entertaining the lady.  The pattern is illustrated on p. 173, Vol. 1 of the Spode Society Review.  It is pattern B101, dating from 1822.  No original blue version of this pattern is known to exist.
