Impressed Marks

Impressed marks were made by impressing a marking instrument into the clay while it was still soft.  It is common to find both impressed marks in combination with printed company marks or a workman's mark on the same piece.  Additionally, an impressed number is frequently found below the impressed factory mark identifying the worker and his team responsible for the object .  Workers' impressed marks are not included in this index of marks.
