English SpraysAlternate Names: Pattern 243 Description: The pattern on this octagonal earthenware plate is printed underglaze in black and colored in underglaze with some over the glaze enameling. It is pattern 243 from the Spode B Pattern Book, a late and rare design introduced c. 1829. Two distinct versions of floral sprays were used for the pattern. The floral border usually appears on all pieces, sometimes with a string border added. It is also known to appear on tea wares.
